ETF Trading Research 4/10/2017

Today’s Trades

I must admit I was a little stubborn today. Normally what keeps me from being stubborn is jumping on something else that moves and today there just wasn’t much moving so I stuck with what I thought would happen with favoring JDST and DWT/DRIP and they never took off. They didn’t do too much damage either, but it was overall just a lousy trading day. I did reach out to see if some of you scalped JNUG and many of you did. I did call some trades long that triggered green on the weekly and those are all ok. Getting a good runner makes us forget about the small losses and I have said the toughest part of this trading service is trading non-green ETFs. but I call them because they can get us good profit. I also missed UVXY unless you got the last trade, but once it fell negative and went positive it should have been a call then for 3%.

Economic Data For Tomorrow

Jolt’d Job Openings and one Fed member speaking tomorrow. Some Chinese data with CPI and PPI to look out for overnight tomorrow.

Stock Market

In last nights report I said I was “neutral with a slightly bullish tint right now.” Well, the market started off good, went negative, then ended up about flat. I don’t think we missed much. Futures are flat after Yellen’s speech so we are kind of in limbo right now.

Foreign Markets

This might be the first sign of trouble coming for the overall markets, but UVXY being up today also showed some fear. We got long YANG, RUSS and EDZ and will look to see if BZQ now triggers long.

Interest Rates

TMF has turned green on the weekly and should have been included below. It is a buy at the open tomorrow.

Energy

We didn’t get any follow through on DWT after the turnaround on Friday like I thought we would. I have to keep an open mind tomorrow and if UWT is up for the day not ignore it.

UGAZ and DGAZ saw DGAZ move slightly up today but it just stayed there and no call was made.

Precious Metals and Mining Stocks

JNUG should have done better today with the dollar down but gold was also lower keeping it at bay. I am still leaning we head lower for a bit more in gold and gold miners. Silver is leading metals lower still.

Hot Corner (the biggest movers – 3% or more – or new ETFs that are green on the weekly – those in bold are consecutive days in the Hot Corner):

RUSS, UVXY, GUSH, UWT, GASL, (3rd day in a row of UWT being in the hot corner. Watch for pullbacks. Since tracking this I have not had an ETF go up 4 days in a row more than 3%. ) – (RUSS, EDZ and YANG new green weekly’s)

Cold Corner (the biggest moved lower 3% or more that are green on the weekly and or weekly/monthly or turned red on the weekly – those in bold are consecutive days in the Cold Corner):

RUSL, DRIP, DWT, SVXY, (DWT 3rd day in a row in the 3% or more down cold corner – watch for a bounce).

Current Trades (Non-Green – Bought/Sold/Hold)

We went home flat. (at least we can compare this to Friday’s trades and not feel as bad but today was not to my or anyone else’s liking).

Green Weekly’s

These are the ETFs that have turned green on the weekly and the dates they turned green. This is used for tracking your percentage gains so you know when to take profit for each ETF per the Trading Rules profit taking guidelines. It is also used for tracking the percentage from high to keep a stop on remaining shares. These green weekly’s work as you can see from the %Gain/Loss tables. You won’t get the exact high with your trade but you will also be out before typically well before they start to fall again. Your best way to profit with the service is stick with the green weekly trend and take profit while using a trailing stop on remaining shares. Also, if these green ETFs are up for the day at the open, they offer the best scalping opportunities too. I am always fine tuning this section so if there is confusion at all, email me and be specific and I’ll be happy address.

I tried a new system for tracking and it isn’t working out the way I want and making more trouble than what it is worth so far and is very frustrating, so going back to the old way till I figure out how to track things better on an ongoing basis. More for internal analysis than anything else.
