ETF Trading Research 11/15/2017

More in a few minutes.

For those of you new here, I most of the time have the ETF Trading Research report out by 8PM PDT, and it comes by an RSS feed, but you can look at the report here sometimes before you get it in your mailbox; https://illusionsofwealth.com/category/etf-blogs/  This is also the same link if there are any technical difficulties.

Today’s Trades and Current Positions (highlighted in yellow):

Started the day off taking profit from UGAZ and got even more profit from it later in the day. Messed around with JDST which couldn’t get going for us and took 2% from YANG. Both YANG and TMF did move up a bit higher and we could have squeezed out a bit more. No complaints overall though.

Economic Data For Tomorrow

Count them, 4 FOMC members speaking tomorrow. What are they defending? Initial Jobless Claims and Philly Fed at 8:30 followe by Nat Gas Storage at 10:30.

Stock Market
Markets started off falling and recovered and end of day fell a bit more to finish down over -130 points on the Dow. I thought there would be more of a Trump effect that there was. Tells me there are more sellers than buyers out there right now. FAZ turned green on the weekly but that was erased by the end of the day. Watching LABU for a possible Red Weekly Opposite on the LABD turnaround today. Somehow tomorrow I think markets might appreciate the passing of the tax reform. Rather wait and follow the trend whatever it is.
Foreign Markets
YANG got us a little profit and we have to see if BZQ is ready to call and BRZU comes into play possibly.
Interest Rates
TMF got us a small profit as a new green weekly but wanted to just scalp it.
Energy
UGAZ we did well on by selling early on, watching the crash (gave an unofficial call on DGAZ that might have got you profit) and jumped on UGAZ again. See what tomorrow’s data brings. Rather be flat going into it with a buy the dip mentality.
Data came in negative for oil today but DWT and DRIP didn’t move higher. Watching. Still have Middle East issues involved.
Precious Metals and Mining Stocks
Miners just haven’t done much with the USD/JPY lately and it makes for tougher trading. Wanted to focus on it today to try and catch a ride higher in JDST, but USD/JPY went up and we couldn’t get much out of JDST. See what tomorrow brings, but lean lower with an eye always on JNUG for a scalp. Actually had DGLD turn red on the weekly and USLV green on the weekly. Rather surprising but that’s what the data shows. The moves up were followed by moves down, so harder to trust. Will monitor tomorrow.

Green Weekly’s

These are the ETFs that have turned green on the weekly and the dates they turned green. This is used for tracking your percentage gains so you know when to take profit for each ETF per the Trading Rules profit taking guidelines. These green weekly’s work as you can see from the %Gain/Loss tables. You won’t get the exact high with your trade but you will also be out typically well before they start to fall again or turn red on the weekly. Your best way to profit with the service is stick with the green weekly trend and take profit while using a trailing stop on remaining shares. Also, if these green ETFs are up for the day at the open, they offer the best scalping opportunities. I am always fine tuning this section so if there is confusion at all, email me and be specific and I’ll be happy address.

I know I have said this many times but it is worth repeating; If you stick with the green weekly trades your odds of profit increase as there is more risk with the day trades. I call the day trades with the intent of catching some runners, so will get a few 1% stop outs but eventually catch the 5% to 10% or more runners.  The important part of the list below is that the longer the ETF stays on the list (the one’s at the top of the list by Entry Date) the more likely it is to turn red on the weekly and the opposite ETF comes into play as a long.

Sell half shares on a spike up on any ETF you are long, even if goal is higher. Spikes higher are almost always followed by moves in the opposite direction. Try and get out with a market order quickly before the quick move back lower. Lock in that profit!
