ETF Trading Research 1/2/2018

For those of you new here, I most of the time have the ETF Trading Research report out by 8PM PDT, and it comes by an RSS feed, but you can look at the report here sometimes before you get it in your mailbox; https://illusionsofwealth.com/category/etf-blogs/  This is also the same link if there are any technical difficulties.

Today’s Trades and Current Positions (highlighted in yellow):

I for one can’t wait for the automation of my system as I neglect what is green on the weekly too much. It will become an automatic trade with stops once we have it up and running. Until then, I get caught with what I think is going to happen next, right or wrong. In the next 24 hours I think I’ll be right on the following: JDST, DWT, DRIP. And we should see LABD start to go up too. FAZ and TMV up is my main reasoning and we should see USD/JPY start to move up too.

Economic Data For Tomorrow

ISM and FOMC minutes tomorrow. Expect some volatility.

Stock Market
We got a mixed signal today. Markets opened higher triggering TQQQ but FAZ triggered on a subsequent move lower. UVXY we took profit and gave some back. Prefer a clearer picture here.
Foreign Markets
YANG may be intriguing, but it bit us today. At some point it will have a big move. Good news out of North Korea and data out of China hurt it. RUSL, YINN and BRZU were all higher today with the market.
Interest Rates
Yesterday I said I was 65/35 on TMV and we got long with the green weekly today.
Energy
DWT and DRIP I think are still basing and should begin the move higher.
There might have been a good scalp for you over 25 in DGAZ today. Other than that, while UGAZ should move much higher in the coming month, a pullback is almost certain as it is 4 days on the green weekly. I have never had and ETF go 5 days since tracking these March of 2016.
Precious Metals and Mining Stocks
I said I view metals and miners a good short but it might be today. Now I am convinced even more. DSI is up to 80. RSI 75 for gold. MACD is at Jul 16 and Nov 16 peaks. Gold fell from 1377 and 1338 respectively to 1124 at that time, a $253 and $224 drop. Bond yields rising. Banks adding to shorts based on open interest increases. Any sign of a positive day on JDST, please buy.

Green Weekly’s

These are the ETFs that have turned green on the weekly and the dates they turned green. This is used for tracking your percentage gains so you know when to take profit for each ETF per the Trading Rules profit taking guidelines. These green weekly’s work as you can see from the %Gain/Loss tables. You won’t get the exact high with your trade but you will also be out typically well before they start to fall again or turn red on the weekly. Your best way to profit with the service is stick with the green weekly trend and take profit while using a trailing stop on remaining shares. Also, if these green ETFs are up for the day at the open, they offer the best scalping opportunities. I am always fine tuning this section so if there is confusion at all, email me and be specific and I’ll be happy address.

I know I have said this many times but it is worth repeating; If you stick with the green weekly trades your odds of profit increase as there is more risk with the day trades. I call the day trades with the intent of catching some runners, so will get a few 1% stop outs but eventually catch the 5% to 10% or more runners.  The important part of the list below is that the longer the ETF stays on the list (the one’s at the top of the list by Entry Date) the more likely it is to turn red on the weekly and the opposite ETF comes into play as a long.

Sell half shares on a spike up on any ETF you are long, even if goal is higher. Spikes higher are almost always followed by moves in the opposite direction. Try and get out with a market order quickly before the quick move back lower. Lock in that profit!
